The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The DAAD is an association of German higher education institutions and acts as a cultural relations, higher-education, academic policy and relevant development cooperation organization. The DAAD is active in PASCH as a connection to higher education in Germany.

Activities of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of the initiative “Schools: Partners for the Future”

  • The number of full scholarships for studies in Germany has been 120 per year since 2008, double the previous number of 60 (exceptionally, there were 170 in 2009); the total number being supported in the winter semester 2011/2012 is 535
  • Additional scholarships for graduates from German language courses of study for on site studies abroad

Instruments: providing “motivational scholarships” (112 of them in 2010) and “trial study visits” at German universities (in 2010, 514 pupils and 49 teachers accompanying them) as well as intensive and individual support of participants in Germany
  • Offering and organizing informational visits to German universities for pupils, for example within the framework of the so-called award winners programme of the Educational Exchange Service (PAD)

  • Publications aimed at target groups, for example “Studying in Germany. A Good Choice for Your Child” – a publication available in several languages that answers 15 questions parents might have about their children studying in Germany
  • Further training for seconded teachers at German schools abroad and language certifi¬cate schools (“expert consultations”) on Germany as a great place to study
  • Information events (for example at the DAAD’s annual meeting of the heads of Inter¬national Offices of German universities and within the framework of the International DAAD Academy – iDA)
